About Studio City for Safe Development.
Studio City for Safe Development is a volunteer community association led by Alex Staikos and Adele Slaughter. It was formed to oppose unsafe, oversized development in Studio City and to push for stronger public-safety review, safer scale, and a clearer public record around Riverwalk and related corridor impacts.
What we believe
We are not against housing. We are against unsafe development. Studio City deserves planning that respects fire risk, emergency access, evacuation routes, and human-scale neighborhoods.
One project, one corridor, real stakes.
The campaign formed around Riverwalk at Studio City, a development proposed for the half mile of Ventura Boulevard from Whitsett Avenue to Coldwater Canyon Avenue. The concern is not that Studio City changes. It is that a project of this scale, alongside others on the same constrained corridor, has not been shown to be safe for evacuation, emergency access, the river habitat, and the infrastructure people already depend on.
- 814 residential units proposed at Riverwalk
- 1,361 units across the corridor, combined
- 3 major projects on one half mile stretch
The corridor figure is the sum of the three projects on the same half mile of Ventura Boulevard: Riverwalk 814, Sportsmen's Lodge 520, Sunswept Place 27. Riverwalk is verified from the public record. The Sportsmen’s Lodge and Sunswept figures reflect each developer’s proposed scope.
